Carcross/Tagish First Nation will have a new Haa Shaa du Hen (Chief) on July 15th 2019

Carcross/Tagish First Nation is now ready to officially enter into the by-election process with all dates confirmed. The appointed Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Tanya Silverfox, will be assisting with the by-election process until the end of July 2019.

Haines resident and Tlingit Master Carver Wayne Price will be teaching his craft by carving a Traditional Tlingit Dugout cedar canoe for Haa Kusteeyí Celebration 2019 in Carcross.

Carcross/Tagish First Nation recently received confirmation that the funding of $100,000 was approved through the Canada Council for the Arts to support the building of a Traditional Tlingit Dugout Canoe by Master Carver Wayne Price from Haines Alaska.

Meet the Maasai

Meet the Maasai (from north Tanzania, east Africa) during their study tour to develop relationships with Canadian First Nations and representing the Enguserosambu Forest Trust. Meet with 3 Representatives; Samwel Nangiria Taresero, Nalaimuta Oletutayo Makeseni and Mark Leshao Talash at the Learning Centre in Carcross on May 9 & 10 from 10am to 4:30pm

A unique international Indigenous collaboration: Carcross/Tagish First Nation (Yukon Territory, Canada) and the Maasai (North Tanzania, East Africa)

On May 9th and 10th 2019, a Maasai delegation “Loita” from the Ngorongoro District of Northern Tanzania will be visiting the Traditional Territory of the Carcross/Tagish First Nation during a study tour of two weeks in Western Canada to develop relationships with Canadian First Nations and representing the Enguserosambu Forest Trust.

At a reconvened General Council that happened this past weekend (March 30th & 31st, 2019) at the Learning Centre, it was decided by consensus from all 6 clans that Andy Carvill needed to be removed as Khà Shâde Héni.
